Agreements on the elimination of obsolete pesticides of the Minsk region were signed.
About 500 tonnes of obsolete pesticides stored in the warehouses of agricultural organisations of the Minsk region will be taken abroad for elimination. The relevant documents were signed today at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus. The large-scale work will be carried out in the framework of the International Technical Assistance Project "GEF-6 Belarus POPs Legacy and Sustainable Chemicals Management".
The contractor was selected through an open tender for the selection of a service provider for the environmentally sound elimination of obsolete pesticides. The winner is Geocoma company. The company has experience in hazardous waste management, including in the Republic of Belarus: a total of 920 tonnes of obsolete pesticides were removed from the Grodno and Vitebsk regions and decontaminated.
The Minsk region is the last territory of our country where obsolete pesticides, including those containing POPs, are stored in the warehouses of agricultural organizations.
